Del Norte Ltd have been successful in maintaining the best survey equipment for the Bristol Port Company for some years since first supplying a new RTK DGPS system together with all the necessary peripheral equipment.

The Bristol port at Avonmouth has a unique quality in that there is 6 metres of silt coupled with rock and sand waves. The old version analogue echo sounders was good using the 33 Khz frequency. Many upgrades of software and computer systems has kept The Bristol Port Company at the leading edge of the latest technology.  The latest acquisition is the purchase of the Reson 8101 Multi-Beam system, organised and arranged by us. An excellent trial of the GeoAcoustics swath system was just pipped at the post by Reson. Both systems have a huge place in the modern sea floor mapping of harbours ports and off shore. TBPC reports that the first survey conducted by the 8101 they found a dredge head lost in 1980.

Because of the huge amount of data collected and processed, Del Norte sold TBPC the latest 64 bit Mesh PC's which cut the task time down 10 fold.

Fledermaus software was sold by Del Norte to enhance the mapping of the multi-beam data and aid the presentation .

Del Norte after sales support and expertise ensures that Bristol Port Hydrographic operational problems are just a phone call away and never more than 8 hours from action being taken.

Del Norte also supplied the Sokkia and Novatel GIS equipment to the Bristol Port Surveyors who use the same Reference station and maintain better than 2cm accuracy over the shore and sea area of the port and approaches coverage
